Whiskey Myers and Family join the line-up of the 2016 Ramblin' Man Fair in Maidstone

Prog rock band Family and rock rebels Whiskey Myers have joined the line-up for the second Ramblin' Man Fair this summer.

The bands join acts already announced Thin Lizzy, who play their only date in the UK at the festival in Maidstone, Whitesnake and Black Stone Cherry.

Prog and blues-based band Family emerged from the hippie era, and were a firm fixture at festivals and in the charts in the 60s and 70s, they include guitarist John 'Charlie' Whitney and the raspy vocals of Roger Chapman.

Loud and proud, Whiskey Myers sing what some describe as rebel music, while others would describe it as everyday soul.

Gritty guitar work and smoky vocals, The Answer's latest album is appropriately titled Raise a Little Hell.

Family and Whiskey Myers will play the Saturday, July 23, when they will join Thin Lizzy and Whitesnake headlining with Hawkwind, Uriah Heap and Procol Harum. Headliners on Sunday, July 24 will be Black Stone Cherry.

It will be the only chance to see Thin Lizzy in the UK as they play a select few dates to mark the 40th anniversary of their seminal Jailbreak album and the 30th anniversary of the passing of Phil Lynott.

The festival will be held in Mote Park again after the first event last year attracted thousands, and will be under the ownership of new music event company Spirit of Rock, a division of RFS Entertainment.
