A suspected burglar arrested just hours after a break-in at a home in Tunbridge Wells has been charged with ten offences, including racially abusing an officer and urinating in a police cell.

Police were called to Hungershall Park shortly after 7.30am on Tuesday to a report that an intruder had been disturbed and had fled the scene.

Following checks with town centre CCTV, officers identified a suspect in the Five Ways area.

During his arrest he is alleged to have assaulted a police officer and racially abused another.

Scott Parker, 44 and of no fixed address, was later charged with burglary, assault by beating of an emergency worker, using threatening and abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress and racially or religiously aggravated harassment.

He was further charged with two thefts relating to shoplifting, two counts of breaching a criminal behaviour order and two offences of criminal damage - in connection to urinating in a police cell.

He was remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court today (Thursday).
