A former Tonbridge Grammar School pupil has died after her car overturned while she was driving to visit her family.

Grace McAdie, 19, has been described by her devastated loved ones as "kind, caring and fun-loving".

She leaves behind mum Susanne, dad Robert, and siblings Henry, 16, and Phoebe, 11, and today Mrs McAdie released a tribute to her daughter on the family's behalf.

She said: "Grace was always full of life. She loved music and she was always singing and dancing.

"She was very social and had lots of friends, but she was also very family orientated. She was kind, caring and fun-loving, and she lit up any room she walked into.”

Miss McAdie's Ford Ka crashed on the B2165 at Northiam, East Sussex, at about 10.45pm on Tuesday while she was en route to the family home in Marley Lane, Battle.

She had just completed her first year at Bath Spa University, where she was studying psychology, and was back home spending the summer with family and friends.

Her family described her as sensible and responsible and she was working at a pub in Hooe, also in East Sussex, in a bid to leave university debt-free.

During her school years she volunteered in a charity shop and achieved The Diana Award, named in honour of the late Princess of Wales, for helping others.

She was admired for her selfless and sensitive attitude towards life, her mum said.
