Crews tackle large fire in roof of house in Old Hadlow Road, Tonbridge

Multiple firefighters in eight fire engines have been tackling a large house fire.

Crews were called to reports of a roof alight at a home in Old Hadlow Road, Tonbridge, just before 2pm.

A height vehicle and a bulk water carrier were also sent to the scene to help tackle the blaze.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: "People living and working in the area are advised to close windows and doors as a precaution, due to smoke coming from the incident.

"People are also asked to avoid the area while firefighting operations continue.

"Please share this update with any loved ones or neighbours in the affected area, who might not have access to the internet or social media."

No injuries have been reported by the emergency services.

At 6.15pm, the fire service tweeted: "Good progress is being made at this incident and have now been reduced to two fire engines and a height vehicle."

The remaining fire crews stayed until 9.15pm when they left after deeming the incident as safe.
