Traffic after collision involving four vehicles on A249 near Stockbury roundabout

Four cars crashed on the A249 near Stockbury roundabout this morning, causing long delays.

Police were called to the accident at 9.45m, which is believed to have happened on the Maidstone-bound carriageway near the M2 junction.

One paramedic car and two ambulances were sent to the scene.

A woman in her 60s was could not move due to chest and back pain and she also had a leg injury.

She was fully conscious and taken to Medway Maritime Hospital, Gillingham.

No one else needed hospital treatment.

Motorists are reportedly stuck in traffic going back to the Key Street roundabout junction.

It is the second consecutive day there has been an accident on the stretch.

Earlier this week it was announced that up to £100 million could be spent on improving the congestion-hit junction which joins the A249 to the M2.
