Street attack in Sheerness High Street

A man is in a serious condition in hospital after being attacked in Sheerness High Street.

Police say the victim suffered facial injuries during the assault, which happened at 12.20am.

He was initially treated at the scene before being taken to Medway Maritime Hospital.

A police spokesman said: "His condition is described as serious and he remains in hospital.

"The High Street has been closed to allow officers the opportunity to investigate the circumstances around how the man came to be injured.

"Enquiries are on-going."

The High Street reopened at about 10.30am.
