A resident has branded a spate of fly-tipping as degrading and ridiculous after bags of waste, electrical items and even a toilet were dumped.

Christine Snody said people dumping rubbish in the alleyway at the back of Shrimp Terrace in Marine Parade, Sheerness, has long been a problem.

But enough was enough for Miss Snody when a new lot of rubbish arrived last week which included bags of waste and even some hoovers.

The final straw came over the weekend when items from a ripped-out old bathroom, including a toilet and cistern, were dumped.

Miss Snody, who lives in Marine Parade, said she often cycles through the alleyway and she is sick of the rubbish which litters it.

She has reported it to Swale council. A spokesman said the rubbish was due to be cleared today (Tuesday).

Miss Snody, 62, said: “It’s not the council to blame – I know they will clear it but it’s continuous.
“I’m fed up with it, it’s so degrading.
“It’s now even worse as more has been dumped over the weekend. It’s ridiculous.”

A spokesman for Swale council added that the council takes fly-tipping very seriously and will continue to take action against anyone involved.

They said the best way to make sure your waste is disposed of properly is to either take it to a tip yourself or use a registered waste carrier.

If your waste is fly-tipped, you will be held responsible, prosecuted by the council and could face a fine of £5,000.

The spokesman added: “Fly-tipping waste can have serious detrimental effects upon communities and the countryside.

“We will continue to work to make Swale a cleaner, greener and safer place for our residents.
