Waitrose recalls salted butter over fears it contains blue cloth

Waitrose is recalling packets of butter because they may have been contaminated with blue cloth.

The supermarket is warning customers who have bought pats of its Waitrose and Partners Salted Dairy Butter not to eat it.

Affected packets weigh 500g and will have a best before date of June 19, 2024.

Signs are also being placed in the aisles of Waitrose to alert shoppers to the recall.

A message on the Food Standards Agency website, which is also circulating the warning, reads: “If you have bought the above product do not eat it.

“Instead, return the product to your local Waitrose branch for a refund.”
