Mayor steps up to help Bangladesh disaster appeal

SHOPPERS will be asked for donations for a campaign to help the survivors of the recent cyclone in Bangladesh.

Medway's Mayor Cllr Val Goulden will be helping members of the Towns' Bangladeshi Community this lunchtime at the Pentagon Centre, Chatham.

She will be encouraging shoppers to dig deep for the the victims of the disaster,

which has left tens of thousand dead and millions homeless and destitute.

Medway has historical connections with Bangladesh spanning over three hundred years mainly through trade through the dockyards and also through the British Empire days.
