Police called after woman injured at Medway Maritime Hospital in Gillingham

A large number of emergency services were sent to a hospital after a woman was injured in the grounds.

Police were called to Medway Maritime Hospital in Gillingham at around 9.10am today and remain at the scene.

A police spokesman said officers “assisted partners at the scene of an incident on the hospital grounds where a woman had suffered injuries”.

No offences have been reported, he added.

A witness said: "The place was swarming with police."

Medway NHS Foundation Trust said it was working “closely with the police” following the incident.

An trust spokesman said: “A patient received care in our Emergency Department and has since been transferred to a specialist trauma unit.

“All services at the hospital are running as usual.”
