A gaming experience centre has been forced to close while its owners recover from a devastating break-in.

A number of games consoles and games were stolen over night from AllGen Gaming, Rochester High Street, on Wednesday, May 7.

The centre's owners have been left reeling from the burglary, but have been humbled by people's offers to help.

Jackie Clark, who's son Shane owns AllGen, said:"I am definitely disappointed. We are sad that anyone could do this to us.

"I got a call from the alarm people and they said they got an image of a female walking around in there.

"They had kicked the door in and stole some consoles and sweets from the snack bar which was really strange; it smacks of desperation."

The 62-year-old estimates that around £3,500-worth of games were stolen from her son's shop, along with four Xboxes, two Wii Us, a PlayStation VR console, a Nintendo Switch and an iPad.

Police came to the centre, which opened in August 2016, on Thursday to take fingerprints and CCTV footage.

It will be closed until Wednesday while the owners clean up the mess.

She added:"Saturdays are our busiest days, which is a pain because we have still got bills to pay.

"I think they knew what they were after; stuff that they could easily sell on.

"We have had offers of help and some people have offered to give us consoles. I feel sad that its happened to us but I am happy that we have had so many people supporting us."

Police spokesman Chris Herbert said: "Officers are investigating after a shop in High St, Rochester, was broken into and computer games equipment was stolen and TV screens and a snack bar were damaged.

"Officers were notified at around 6.55am on Thursday, 9 May 2019 and are continuing to investigate."
