Medway Council will be given £201,000 to fix and prevent potholes

Medway Council will be given more than £200,000 to fix and prevent potholes across the Towns.

In the Autumn Statement it was announced that £1.3 billion in extra funding would be invested in UK roads including £11.6 million to fix potholes in the South East, from next year.

Medway Council has been allocated £201,000, to help fix roads in the Towns, bringing their Highways Maintenance block allocation up to £2.3 million for 2017-18.

Gillingham and Rainham MP, Rehman Chishti, said: “I welcome the announcement ensuring that our roads get the investment they need.

“Potholes cause havoc for many motorists and these extra funds will help address that.

“In terms of road safety, it is also good news that an additional £175 million has been allocated for upgrading some of England’s most dangerous roads.

“I commend the government and transport secretary for their relentless commitment to our national infrastructure.”
