Notes left on windscreens in Harvesters Way, Weavering, appear to threaten damage to cars parked on road

Residents have been left baffled after threatening notes appeared on their windscreens overnight.

One resident reported seeing someone dressed in black leaving the flyers on cars shortly after midnight on Sunday in Harvesters Way, Weavering.

The notes were placed on every vehicle parked along one section of the road, and all varied slightly but shared the same theme, with one reading: “STOP BLOCKING MAIN ROAD AVOID DAMAGE TO YOUR CAR.”

Another warned of “significant damage” to the vehicle.

Some recipients thought the note was a threat, while others read it in a friendlier tone, assuming it was a warning that guests would be making use of the road over the bank holiday weekend.

Either way, the notes have perplexed those who received one, who say their cars are not blocking the road at all.

Harvesters Way itself is not a main road but a residential street which leads only to a footpath with a number of dead-end roads along the way.

Mark Wright was one of those to receive a note on his car over the weekend.

Without a driveway, he has no choice but to park on the road outside his house.

He said: “All the notes seem to be worded differently, so it’s not just a photocopying job. It’s not going to stop me parking there, I don’t really have a choice and I’m not concerned.

“When I saw it I just thought, I don’t know what would have prompted someone to do it.”
