RONNIE JEPSON believes Danny Spiller is beginning to show the quality of old after several impressive showings.

Spiller, the club’s former player of the year, has struggled to force his way into the team over the last few seasons but Jepson is keen to give the 25-year-old another chance to impress.

A battling and committed second half performance by Spiller on Saturday helped turn the game in Gillingham’s favour.

Jepson said: "He’s been smashing over the last couple of weeks and he’s back to his old self.

"He’s had a few little problems, not with me personally, but he’s had a few of his own little problems and we’ve sat down, had a chat and overcome that.

"We’ve got him back working and enjoying himself and playing with a smile on his face."
