Witnesses sought after women die in crash

POLICE have appealed for witnesses to a six-vehicle crash on the M20 which claimed the lives of two women. It was the second fatal accident on the motorway in less than a week.

The latest tragedy occurred on the London-bound carriageway near Swanley at about 10.45am on Thursday.

A red Ford Mondeo is believed to have crossed the central reservation before colliding with a blue Peugeot. One of the dead women was the driver of the Ford. The other was a passenger in the Peugeot.

It is understood both women lived in Kent. Their identities have not yet been released. Both carriageways of the motorway were closed for several hours as emergency services fought to save the life of one of the women. Witnesses are being asked to telephone 01622 690690.

The previous Sunday a man from London died when his van swerved off the M20 at Wrotham and crashed into a tree.
