Postponements are making Gillingham players hungry for action

Gillingham boss Mark Stimson believes that the recent bout of postponements is making his players hungrier than normal.

The Gills were due to face Accrington in the third round of the FA Cup on Tuesday night but that game has now been called off because of the weather.

After their last two games were also postponed because of the snow, the Gills players are desperate for action.

Stimson (pictured) said: "They’ll be chomping at the bit to get a game.

"We’ve had interruptions with games called off and it would be nice to get one on.

"We’re making sure we keep up the players’ fitness levels and when a game comes around, they’ll be flying out of the blocks."

With Gillingham’s own Beechings Cross training field frozen and covered in snow, Stimson used his Tottenham contacts to put his team through their paces at Spurs Lodge in Enfield last week.

He added: "The players have been brilliant. We had a good session and the players worked hard."
