Man found in river is named

The man whose body was pulled out of the River Medway earlier this month has been named as 28-year-old Goksel Ermis, of North Street, Strood.

His body was found after a member of the public alerted police to a pile of clothing on The Esplanade, in Rochester at 6.10pm on Wednesday, December 3.

The coastguard and marine unit attended and pulled the body of the man out of the water. Police are not treating the death as suspicious.

An inquest has been opened and adjourned. A post mortem confirmed Mr Emis died from drowning.
