Jack Payne has been ruled out of Gillingham’s League 2 clash with Hereford on Saturday.

The young midfielder (pictured) was replaced at Norwich on Tuesday night after picking up a knock.

Manager Andy Hessenthaler was hoping he would have recovered in time for this weekend, but Payne has ran out of time to be fit.

"We’ve lost Jack Payne from the other night," said Hessenthaler. "He won’t be fit as he has a nasty dead leg and he won’t be able to shake that off."

Kevin Maher is the likely to candidate to fill the vancant role in midfield.
