Charlton Athletic's Bradley Pritchard writes for the KM Group

It's getting to the crunch end of the season and everyone is starting to look at other results and what it means to the table and the fixtures that remain.

That’s the case everywhere other than at Charlton, anyway, because we remain in prime position ahead of the last five weeks of the season.

This is what all the hard work so far this season, home and away, has been about. We ran ourselves ragged in July during pre-season for exactly this situation and we don’t intend to let promotion slip out of our grasp now.

People talk about targets and possible points totals but if we win our remaining seven games, we will win the league and there is nothing anyone else can do about that.

We’re the only ones who have everything in their own hands and I’m sure that every other club in the table would swap positions with us.

Every game is a big game but we unfortunately lost to one of our promotion rivals, Huddersfield Town, last weekend, after being reduced to 10 men.

On the bench, we were chatting about how it was one of those games when a moment of individual skill or perhaps an error would make the difference and unfortunately it was the latter in our case.

On Tuesday night, I played in a reserve side at Dartford in the Kent Senior Cup and that was an interesting experience. Although we lost, the main reason we entered the competition was to give first-teamers some valuable minutes under their belt and youngsters experience of playing in higher profile men’s football and both of those objectives were met.

Finally, I should – modestly, of course – mention that I’ve been nominated for a big award, the International Sports Personality honour at the Zimbabwean Achievers Awards.

There are some serious sportsmen and women on the shortlist, such as Olympic swimmers and rugby World Cup players, so just to be mentioned at the same time as them is quite humbling. All the same, vote for me!
