Saga billionaire Roger De Haan’s son Josh has moved the head office of his dotcom company to Folkestone - the town his father is set on turning into a cultural mecca.

Around six jobs are to be created in the move by the listings and lifestyle guide company, which already employs 30 head office staff.

The new premises are at Premier House on Pent Road of the Shearway Business Park.

Josh, 34, whose late grandfather Sidney started the Saga empire by buying two Folkestone hotels after the war, said the town was ideal as the base for View, the flagship site of which is ViewLondon.co.uk.

The company was initially formed above a bar at Sandgate, near Folkestone, but had since been spread over offices in Ashford and London.

It employs around 300 freelance researchers.

Josh said: "Folkestone is ideally placed with the fast rail link to London and is seeing a renewed vigour on the back of significant redevelopment and investment in the creative quarter, which is attracting a wealth of vibrant, interesting companies and individuals."

The company is seeking an administrator, two or three sales executives, a web developer and a junior web developer to be based in the Folkestone office.

Josh’s father Roger, who sold the Saga group for £1.35 billion in 2004 has been involved in the on-going campaign to reinvent Folkestone as a city of culture and art.
