Trophy-hunting Fleet wait on Porter's fitness

GRAHAM PORTER: long-term groin strain

Gravesend & N v Bishop's Stortford

GRAVESEND manager Liam Daish is not ruling out central defender Graham Porter's return to the side for tonight's FA Trophy, quarter-final replay against Bishop's Stortford at Stonebridge Road.

Porter, a long-term injury casualty with a groin strain, is wanted as replacement for fellow centre-back Paul McCarthy, who limped off after 15 minutes with a recurrence of a dead-leg on his comeback in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Woodside Park.

"There is a chance that Graham could be fit and I'll be leaving it late before making a decision," said Daish who believes the club have every chance of qualifying for a first Trophy semi-final appearance against either Hereford or Hucknall in the two-legged semi-finals.

In the other semi-final, Grays play Burton Albion.

The Fleet players looked distraught after Bishops Stortford scored in the second minute of the four added for stoppages on Saturday but Daish is in no doubt that they are more than capable of finishing the job tonight.

"We nearly got to the semi-finals on Saturday _ and I would have liked to have gone through then," Daish admitted. "But if we've got to go there the hard way, then so be it.

"If you're going to win a major cup, like the FA Trophy, then you have to overcome this kind of thing. This tie is not over by a long chalk and there is still everything to play for."

Tonight's replay kicks off at 7.45pm.
