Travellers set up camp behind old Esso garage on the A2 in Gravesend

Travellers were spotted setting up camp behind an old petrol station on the A2 in Gravesend in the latest incursion to spring up in the borough.

On Friday, caravans were parked in fields behind the old Esso garage near the Gravesend East turn off.

In the afternoon, witnesses also reported caravans on land close to the Cyclopark where travellers were evicted following a week long stay.

The camp sparked anger from walkers and councillors after it emerged taxpayers had been left with a £15,000 bill to clear the mess.
