Last night two cars' rear windscreens were smashed although police believe it's not related to the riots across the country.

A police spokesman said that a car in High Road, Wilmington and a car in Watchgate, Dartford had objects thrown thrown through their rear windscreens.

Police made no arrests.

Other incidents over night include an attempted arson attack in Chatham and damage to windows in Gillingham and Whitstable.

But Kent police chiefs stated there had been no 'significant disorder' across the county.

Deputy Chief Constable Alan Pughsley said: 'Kent Police will continue to challenge any hint of disorder or criminal behaviour. We are continuing to take a zero tolerance approach, and our plans over the last two nights have worked very well. We are working hard to ensure Kent remains safe.

'I'd like to thank the people of Kent and Medway for their messages of support, and for the information they've given us.

'Our message to anyone trying to come to Kent to attack our community is to stay away or face the consequences.'

Rumours circulating around Kent regarding possible disorder were quickly responded to by Kent Police on social networking sites Twitter and Facebook. Follow 'kent_police' on Twitter for the latest information, search 'Kent Police' on Facebook or visit www.kent.police.uk.
