Canterbury Christ Church University student Ellie Campbell mourned by family and friends at her funeral

Grieving family and friends have gathered to remember a 'beautiful and amazing' girl who died after suffering a medical incident at the St George's Centre in Canterbury.

The funeral has now taken place of 18-year-old Ellie Campbell, who was taken from the student halls of residence to hospital early on Saturday, January 27.

Paramedics were called and she was taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford but sadly died two days later.

The teenager's funeral was held in her home town of Billericay in Essex yesterday and a Facebook page set up to remember her.

Her family said that any donations would be given to the intensive care unit at the William Harvey Hospital where doctors tried to save her.

A spokesman for Christ Church University said: "It is with great sadness that we can confirm one of our students died on Monday, 29 January 2018.

"Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and friends, and we would like to remind all students and staff that help and advice is available through the University Support Services."
