A PAIR of glorious white Pyrannese mountain dogs from Chilham are this year’s Kent Messenger Kent Pet of the Year.
They belong to Les and Christine Clinton, of Canterbury Road, who say the dogs Harley and Lexis are friendly and extremely well behaved.
The dogs are mother and son. Harley is the boy and he is aged two while mum Lexis is five.
Christine, who is in her 50s and works as a chef in London, said: “We thought we would enter both of them because they’re both so beautiful and we couldn’t just enter one.
“They behave well and just love people coming up to them which they do when we are out with them in Chilham, Ashford and Canterbury.
“And because so many people come up to them when we are out, we also collect for Marie Curie Cancer Care.”
Harley and Lexis beat more 500 other entrants to the top prize. They win a year’s supply of dog food from Nestle Purina ProPlan.
The second place was won by a dog from Rochester and the third place went to a cat from Ashford.
