Scott Porter was happy to see Hythe end their "five-game blip" with a 3-0 Ryman League, Division 1 South win against in-form Walton & Hersham at Stompond Lane on Tuesday night.

The Reachfields boss described the display as a "great team performance" as skipper Dave Cook scored twice and Nick Reeves added the other on a good night in Surrey.

Porter said: "We have been on a little bit of a bad run and hopefully this win will kick-start our run-in to the end of the season.

"It was a five-game blip when we didn’t perform and play to our potential.

"Walton were in good form themselves but we battled away on an awful rock-hard pitch and I hope the result will give people confidence."

Porter added: "The last few games have been a reality check for us but nobody can take away what we have achieved this season.

"We now want to finish as high in the league as we can and with a final to look forward to as well, it is still very much alive."

Lee Winfield (knee), Tamar Hassan (ill) and Kane Rice (work commitments) are set to return to the squad for the home game against Eastbourne Town on Saturday.
